Graphic Details is a small design and production studio based in Nanaimo, British Columbia. This policy explains what information we collect through graphicdetails.ca and in the course of our work, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act and, where it applies, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

Information we collect

Information you send us. When you use our estimate request form or email us, we receive what you choose to share. The form asks for your name, email address, company or agency, deadline, project type, budget range, project details, and links to files or references.

Project materials. If we work together, you may share brand assets, copy, images and files. We use these only to deliver your project and treat them as confidential. Much of our work is white-label, so we don’t publicly disclose who we work for without permission.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records some technical information when you visit:

  • Security logs. Our security software records your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to detect and block malicious traffic.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: pages visited, approximate location (city or region), device and browser type, and how you arrived. This helps us improve the site. It isn’t used to identify you personally.
  • Fonts. Some of the site’s fonts may be loaded from Google’s servers, which means your browser shares its IP address with Google when a page loads.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to inquiries and prepare quotes
  • deliver, revise and invoice project work
  • keep business and financial records
  • keep the website secure and working properly
  • understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it

We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information. We won’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.

Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies (small files stored in your browser) to tell visits apart and measure site use. WordPress also sets cookies for people who log in to manage the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on. The site will still work.

Service providers and where information is stored

We rely on a few trusted service providers to run the site and the business: our website host, our email provider, Google (Analytics and fonts), our website security provider, and our backup service. They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services.

Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its authorities.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, such as responding to an inquiry or completing and invoicing a project. We also keep it as long as required for legal, tax or accounting reasons. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, security monitoring and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our using it (subject to legal or contractual limits). Email hello@graphicdetails.ca and we’ll respond within 30 days.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Children

This website and our services are intended for businesses and are not directed at children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
